Off-Label Westhroid Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Westhroid for something other than the conditions discussed in this article. Sometimes, the drug is used in an off-label fashion in conjunction with antidepressants to treat depression, particularly depression that has been resistant to other treatments.
 
It is important to note that Westhroid should not be used as a weight loss medication in people without thyroid problems. Normal doses are not likely to cause significant weight loss; this is only seen at doses that are high enough to cause serious Westhroid side effects. Also, the drug should not be used to treat infertility, unless it is related to a thyroid problem.
