Drug Interactions With Rosiglitazone and Glimepiride (Cont.)

 
Diuretics
Taking this drug with diuretics can make it less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your rosiglitazone and glimepiride dose, especially when starting or stopping a diuretic.
 
Estrogens
Taking this drug with estrogens can make it less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your rosiglitazone and glimepiride dose, especially when starting or stopping an estrogen.
 
Gemfibrozil (Lopid)
Taking this drug with gemfibrozil can increase the level of rosiglitazone and glimepiride in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of rosiglitazone and glimepiride.
 
Isoniazid
Taking this drug with isoniazid can make it less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your rosiglitazone and glimepiride dose, especially when starting or stopping isoniazid.
 
Niacin (Nicotinic Acid, Niaspan, Niacor, Nicolar)
Taking this drug with niacin can make it less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your rosiglitazone and glimepiride dose, especially when starting or stopping niacin.
 
Oral Contraceptives
Taking this drug with oral contraceptives (birth control pills) can make it less effective, increasing your chance of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia). You may need to be monitored more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust your rosiglitazone and glimepiride dose, especially when starting or stopping an oral contraceptive.
