Drug Interactions With Repaglinide and Metformin

NPH Insulin
Repaglinide and metformin is not licensed for use with NPH insulin (Humulin® N or Novolin N®). In studies, there were reports of heart problems (including heart attacks) in people who took both repaglinide and NPH insulin.

Procainamide
Theoretically, procainamide may affect the ability of the kidneys to filter metformin (one of the components of repaglinide and metformin) from the blood, possibly leading to high levels of metformin. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely if you take these medications together.

Protease Inhibitors
Taking repaglinide and metformin with protease inhibitors can increase the level of repaglinide (one of the components of repaglinide and metformin) in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease your dose of repaglinide and metformin if you are taking these medications together.

Quinidine
Theoretically, quinidine may affect the ability of the kidneys to filter metformin (one of the components of repaglinide and metformin) from the blood, possibly leading to high levels of metformin. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely if you take these medications together.

Quinine
Theoretically, quinine may affect the ability of the kidneys to filter metformin (one of the components of repaglinide and metformin) from the blood, possibly leading to high levels of metformin. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely if you take these medications together.

Ranitidine
Theoretically, ranitidine may affect the ability of the kidneys to filter metformin (one of the components of repaglinide and metformin) from the blood, possibly leading to high levels of metformin. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely if you take these medications together.
