Who Should Not Take Pramlintide?

You should not take pramlintide if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Symlin, pramlintide acetate, or any inactive component used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients used to make Symlin.
     
  • Have diabetic gastroparesis (a slowing of the digestive tract due to diabetes).
     
  • Have hypoglycemic unawareness (if you can no longer feel the symptoms of low blood sugar).
