Drug Interactions With Nateglinide

As with any medication, there are potential drug interactions with nateglinide. Taking it with other medicines, such as diuretics, certain decongestants, and NSAIDs, can lead to problems. Some of these drug interactions with nateglinide can increase your risk of low or high blood sugar, or can reduce the effectiveness of nateglinide. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely or adjust your dose.

Nateglinide (Starlix®) can potentially interact with several medicines. Some of these drug interactions with nateglinide include:

    • Cortisone
    • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
    • Fludrocortisone (Florinef®)
    • Hydrocortisone (Cortef®)
    • Methylprednisolone (Depo-Medrol®, Medrol®)
    • Prednisolone (Ovapred®, Pediapred®)
    • Prednisone
    • Triamcinolone (Kenalog®, Aristospan®
 
  • Diuretics, such as:
 
 
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
 
 
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
 
 
  • Salicylates, such as:
 
    • Salsalate (Salflex®, Disalcid®, Amigesic®)
 
  • Thyroid medications, such as:
