Although most men do not experience problems with testosterone topical solution, side effects are possible. The most common reactions include things like headache, diarrhea, and armpit irritation. In most cases, side effects are minor; however, contact your healthcare provider immediately if you develop serious problems, such as hostility, depression, changes in skin color, or rapid weight gain.
An Introduction to Side Effects of Testosterone Topical SolutionAs with any medicine, side effects are possible with testosterone topical solution (Axiron®). However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Side Effects to ReportSome side effects with testosterone topical solution are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
- Hostility or rage
- Prostate cancer
- Worsening of benign prostatic hyperplasia, which may cause difficulty passing urine
- Any nausea or vomiting
- Changes in skin color
- Sleep apnea
- Signs of congestive heart failure, such as rapid weight gain, shortness of breath, and fluid retention
- Signs of liver damage, such as yellow eyes or skin (jaundice)
- Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
- An unexplained rash
- Swelling of the mouth or throat
- Difficulty breathing.
