Korlym and Depression

Korlym™ (mifepristone) is a medicine approved for reducing high blood sugar in adults who have Cushing's syndrome. It is specifically approved for treating people who also have type 2 diabetes or glucose intolerance from high cortisol levels.

However, there may be times when a healthcare provider may prescribe this medicine for "off-label," or unapproved, uses. Although there are no widely accepted off-label uses for Korlym, this medicine is currently being studied for the treatment of psychotic depression. Korlym might possibly help treat this serious type of depression in which a person loses touch with reality (has psychosis).
