Side Effects of Glyburide and Metformin to Report

There are a number of less common, but more serious, side effects of glyburide and metformin that you should report to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of lactic acidosis, including muscle pain; dizziness or lightheadedness; trouble breathing; abdominal pain (or stomach pain); feeling cold, tired, or weak; and a slow or irregular heartbeat (see Metformin and Lactic Acidosis)
     
  • Symptoms of high blood sugar, including:

 

    • Increased hunger
    • Increased thirst
    • Increased urination
    • Blurred vision
    • Fatigue
    • Shortness of breath
    • Nausea or vomiting

 

  • Symptoms of low blood sugar, including:

 

    • Sweating
    • Shakiness
    • Extreme hunger
    • Dizziness
    • Cold sweats
    • Blurry vision
    • Changes in behavior, such as irritability
    • Loss of coordination
    • Difficulty speaking
    • Confusion

 

  • Chest pain

 

  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including an unexplained skin rash, itching, hives, wheezing or trouble breathing, or unexplained swelling.
