Glucotrol® (glipizide) is a prescription medication used to lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. It helps to increase insulin production in the pancreas and also helps the cells respond better to insulin. Prior to taking Glucotrol, be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you have kidney or liver problems, any allergies, or an adrenal insufficiency. The dosage that your healthcare provider prescribes will vary, depending on how well your diabetes is controlled, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you may be taking.
