Testosterone Topical Solution Information

Testosterone topical solution (Axiron®) is a prescription hormone replacement medication for men. It is used on the skin, rather than taken by mouth, because it would have little effect on testosterone levels if taken by mouth.

The medication is formulated for use in the armpit and comes in a pump that delivers exactly the right amount of testosterone each time. The prescribing information calls for a starting dosage of 60 mg (one pump per armpit) to be applied once daily. After at least two weeks, your healthcare provider should check your blood testosterone levels and adjust your dosage if necessary.
