Insulin Detemir Drug Information

As a long-acting medication, insulin detemir (Levemir®) is designed to be taken once or twice a day. This prescription medication is given by injection just under the skin, and it works by providing a steady level of insulin throughout the day to help control blood sugar levels.

Although most people tolerate it well, insulin detemir is not right for everyone. Safety information on this drug should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before beginning treatment. This includes knowing what products could interact with it and being aware of possible side effects, such as low blood sugar or a skin reaction at the injection site.
