Glucotrol Drug Info

Available by prescription only, Glucotrol® (glipizide) is a medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults. It is usually taken once or twice a day, and works best if taken 30 minutes before breakfast. There is also an extended-release version called Glucotrol XL® (glipizide extended release); it is taken just once a day with breakfast.
 
Although Glucotrol is generally safe and effective, not everyone can use this drug. Glucotrol's safety information should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks. For example, you may not be able to use this product if you have certain allergies, if you are taking certain medications, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
