Alogliptin and Pioglitazone Drug Information

Alogliptin and pioglitazone (Oseni®) is a combination medication approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in adults. It is available by prescription only and comes as a tablet that is taken once a day.

In clinical studies, people had lower HbA1c (hemoglobin A1c) levels and fasting blood sugar when they took the combination of alogliptin and pioglitazone rather than the individual components alone. The goals of diabetes treatment are to lower blood sugar levels enough to reduce your risk of developing problems related to the condition, such as heart, nerve, eye, or kidney problems, and this drug is effective for this.

While most people tolerate this medicine well, it is not suitable for everyone. Before starting treatment with alogliptin and pioglitazone, your healthcare provider will need information on all other drugs you are taking and will examine your medical history. People who have liver or kidney problems may not be able to safely use this product.
