Who Should Not Take Cytomel?

You should not take Cytomel if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Cytomel, liothyronine sodium, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have untreated adrenal insufficiency, as Cytomel can cause serious problems unless this condition is appropriately treated.
     
  • Have an untreated overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism).
