Armour Thyroid
As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Armour Thyroid. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. Serious side effects are less common.
Some of the possible side effects of Armour Thyroid include, but are not limited to:
- Feelings of a rapidly or forcefully beating heart (known as heart palpitations)
- Hair loss (see Armour Thyroid and Hair Loss)
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- A rapid heart rate (tachycardia)
- Insomnia (see Armour Thyroid and Insomnia).

Armour Thyroid can potentially interact with numerous other medications (see Armour Thyroid Drug Interactions).
You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Armour Thyroid if you have:
- An overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism)
- A recent history of heart attack
- Adrenal insufficiency
- Any heart problems
- Osteoporosis
- Diabetes
- Any allergies, including allergies to food, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
- Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant (see Armour Thyroid and Pregnancy)
- Breastfeeding (see Armour Thyroid and Breastfeeding).
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
